‘SAFE’ with Derek Owusu

Organised by The Curve • Age Guidance 11+

Writer and poet, Derek Owusu, contributor and editor of SAFE: On Black British Men Reclaiming Space and new Merky Books author, will be in conversation with Nels Abbey, author of Think Like a White Man. They will be discussing what it means to be a Black British male in the current political climate, mental health, representation and the image of Black men.

SAFE features essays from poets, writers, musicians, actors and journalists, offering personal insights into the Black male experience relating to dancing, sexuality, family, abuse and religion—and demonstrates how a new generation of Black voices are inspiring and educating us to re-examine our ideas about British identity.
